This photo was from zip-lining in Catalina and it was a crazy adventure! I had never zip-lined before and even though I am afraid of heights it was my idea to go zip-lining. The only one crazy enough to do this with me on our family trip was my dad. I was super excited but also so terrified to do this. We got all the gear on and they explained the rules and safety procedures. They mentioned how if you were small you could get stuck (I was in HS and much smaller than I am now lol). The guy even pointed at me and said if anyone was to get stuck it would be me, and even though I was scared by this idea he now put in my head, he made it seem like it doesn’t happen very often.
When we got to the very top of the first rope, it was extremely high up. I guess I didn’t really think too much about into the fact that you had to just jump off a box, and then hope this rope thing keeps you up so you don’t die. The more you think about, who came up with this crazy idea and who is dumb enough to WANT to do this, oh yah me. I’m pretty sure I made my dad go first because I was scared. Also side note, my dad has jumped out of a plane before for fun so this was nothing to him. When it was my turn I was so nervous but the cute worker told me to just not think and jump and it would be so fun. So of course if a cute guy says it, it must be true (ahh the teenage years before you know the truth lol. When I jumped I screamed hella loud I think the whole island heard. However, I did it! Now for this zip-lining course there was five ropes we got to take and of course the first was the highest and then they got closer to the ground as you went on.
I get to the next rope and I am excited, adrenaline running, ready to go. I go and of course scream but still super fun. However, when we got to the third rope is when things got interesting. After you jump off and zip-away to the other side, the instructor/worker basically catches you and helps you down. Well, on my third rope I was all ready to go and I jumped and I’m off, however, I did not have as much momentum since I was “smaller” as the worker said, so when I went to grab the instructor I didn’t come in as hot and missed him and swung right back to the middle of the rope. So there I am, dangling hundreds or so feet up. The worker had to come out and get me, at least he was cute! He did say that he had been working all day and this didn’t happen to anyone else but yah know of course it did to me. I did the rest of the ropes without any hiccups but it was definitely an event to remember!
